no they speak english because australia used to be a commenwealth of england meaning they used to own it so as time past they just used that language

No, they don't. As far as accents go, why do people in England have accents? After all, that's where english *came* from. Accents are just trends in the way we speak, they just happen. When people talk to other people, they talk in different styles. Babies learn from the style that their parent's speak, and so do their children. And so on, and so on. Oh, don't ask that question in public, you'll look like an arse.
